WordPress is now in version 5.3 and the 2020 Theme is available. I am choosing to start out with the Chaplin Theme which is similar to the 2020 theme.

WordPress has a new release out (2.5) that is a quantum leap of improvement. I will wait till BlueHost installs it for me but hope to see it soon. I also have found a new theme called Options which is partially functioning today. I need to alter the CSS style sheet so it looks and functions better. I found a site which inspired me to struggle with the code – Muted lunacy.

ARTiFactor.org access problems

I cannot log in as administrator for my artifactor.org web site. No combination of user names or e-mail addresses work. Lost passwords function doesn’t work either. I will need to use an obscure PHP trick via the data base at my BlueHost server account. Pretty scarey though. I may have to delete the whole blog and start over. That might be a good thing. Will need lots of time, though.

Flock web browser

I started using Flock as a web browser today. It is like Firefox with drag and drop social media capabilities. Having a wide screen monitor allows me to have more going on at one time. Fortunately my “friends” list is really small. My feeds are numerous though.

My new banner at VOX

Six Aparts new free VOX blogging service just allowed custom banners yesterday. I decided to use this picture to make a 940px by 200px banner. You can see it at artifactor.vox.com. VOX is also allowing us to create groups, where we can post an article to a particular group site (photography for example). I want to also use this post to see how text wraps around the picture when it is floated right.

Bluehost support

I finally gave up struggling to get the Cutline theme to install and filled out a help ticket. Bluehost support quickly explained that nested within the Cutline folder were two sub folders, one of which was also called Cutline. Nested folders with the same name apparently was the problem. Next I need to think about how to structure my photo data. Then I should be able to concentrate on content.

For this post I uploaded the picture, selected full size insert with link to original. After I inserted it into the “write post” form I clicked on he insert photo icon and selected float left in the pop up box. I also clicked on the photo and resized it smaller (about 300x200px). If you click on the picture you see it full size.

New theme uploaded

Day three: I was disappointed to find only two themes loaded in my dashboard. Uploading themes sounded like a simple task. Just download a theme and “upload the theme folder into your wp-content/themes directory”. HOW? I need to find FTP software and learn how to use it. I found one in my BlueHost cpanel. When I uploaded Cutline I was told it was missing the style.css file. After multiple attempts I tried Almost-Spring 1.3. Did not work. I tried uploading into the FTP incoming file. It worked!

I ended up switching back to WordPress default 1.6 (Kubrick modified).

Change the theme to Cutline by Pearson.

How to handle or structure my photo collection.

How to insert photos into post with a link to its own file.

How to point two more domains to BlueHost.

How to upload my artifactor.org site .
